This Privacy Policy describes how Daily Arabic ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration data: name, email address, and authentication credentials
- Learning profile: self-reported Arabic proficiency level, learning goals, interests, habits, and motivations
- User-generated content: saved vocabulary words, favorites, collections, handwriting and drawing input, and search history
- Communication data: messages you send to us via email or support channels
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: device model, operating system version, screen resolution, unique device identifiers, and IP address
- Usage data: features accessed, screens viewed, time spent, swipe and interaction patterns, widget configuration and interaction data
- Performance data: crash reports, error logs, and app performance metrics
- Notification data: notification delivery and engagement statistics
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication providers: if you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the provider
- Payment processors: In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store). We never collect or store payment card details
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To deliver personalized Arabic vocabulary lessons and learning content tailored to your proficiency level
- To operate and improve the lockscreen widget feature, including word selection and rotation
- To sync your learning progress, achievements, and settings across your devices via cloud backup
- To send push notifications for learning reminders, streak updates, achievement unlocks, and trial expiration warnings
- To calculate and display gamification metrics including streaks, XP, levels, and achievements
- To process subscription payments, manage billing, and enforce subscription entitlements
- To analyze usage patterns and improve app functionality, content selection, and user experience
- To respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, and communicate administrative messages
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse of the Service
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: for push notifications, analytics cookies, and optional profile information
- Contract performance: to deliver the Service and process subscriptions pursuant to our Terms of Service
- Legitimate interests: to improve the Service, prevent fraud, and ensure security
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Storage Location
Your data is stored on secured servers operated by Supabase (Google Cloud Platform, US-based regions). Payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) in accordance with its privacy policy.
4.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies in our PostgreSQL database ensuring data isolation between users
- Access controls restricting internal access to authorized personnel only
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
4.3 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment transaction records for tax purposes, retained for 5 years).
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
5.1
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We have never done so and will never do so.
5.2
We may share your data with the following categories of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloud infrastructure: Supabase (PostgreSQL database, authentication, storage)
- Payment processing: Apple App Store (in-app purchases)
- Analytics: crash and performance reporting services
- Push notifications: notification delivery services
5.3
We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process (e.g., court order, subpoena); necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the rights of others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you).
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data (via Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us)
- Portability: request export of your learning data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Opt-out: disable analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications through device settings and in-app Settings
- Withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
8. International Data Transfers
If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Service uses local storage (AsyncStorage) and similar technologies to:
- Maintain your authentication session
- Store your learning progress and preferences locally
- Cache vocabulary data for offline access
- Remember your theme and settings preferences
We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the updated policy.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
